A Compact Sling in Sailcloth-Inspired Fabric

The Evergoods Civic Access Sling 2L is a small, lightweight carry designed to slot into everyday life, whether that's an urban commute, a trip to the theme park, or a wait at the doctor's office. This particular version is a special edition built in X-Pac fabric, with a black exterior and a coyote brown interior that shows up in a few different shades. At roughly 309 grams, it's an easy thing to throw on and forget you're wearing.

Build and Materials

The shell is X-Pac, a material originally developed for sailing boats and known for being light and durable. Evergoods calls out X-42 for this edition, with the interior lining listed as 210D nylon 6.6. The two-tone coyote brown lining gives the inside some visual depth, and combined with a matching X-Pac tech pouch you can end up looking at three shades of coyote brown at once.

The sling is designed in the United States, and based on the labeling it appears to be made in Vietnam. Care is hand wash only and line dry.

Key hardware details:

• Zippers: YKK with AquaGuard protection. The front pocket uses a 10RC and the rear uses an 8RC.
• Zipper pulls: Large and easy to grab, usable with gloves. Evergoods offers replacement pulls in several colors, though coyote brown is not among them.
• Buckles: Duraflex hardware.
• Warranty: Evergoods products carry a lifetime warranty.

On the front there's a hook-and-loop Velcro panel that doubles as Evergoods branding. You can leave it as is, swap in your own patch, or add one of Evergoods' patches, including glow-in-the-dark and high-visibility options.

Organization

The sling has two zippered pockets: a front pocket and a larger rear main pocket.

The main pocket opens to reveal the coyote brown interior and includes:

• A plastic key leash to clip and stow keys along the side
• An internal zippered mesh pocket, similar in structure to Evergoods' Cap One
• A split-style pocket with dividers, useful for items like a power bank

In the review's loaded example, the pack carried a small tech pouch, vitamins and medication, pens and pencils, a small journal, a leather wallet, and a fountain pen, giving a realistic sense of its everyday capacity.

The front pocket is essentially a dump pocket with no internal organization.

A few limitations worth understanding:

• The internal pockets have minimal, unstructured capacity. They aren't plated, so loading one side pushes it against the other and cuts into overall space.
• The 2L volume is already small, and the pocket design compromises it further.

Comfort and Carry

The strap uses a softer, seatbelt-style webbing, and this is the first Evergoods sling to include a strap keeper, which tidies up the excess length for a cleaner look when worn. It can be worn crossbody or around the waist.

One important sizing note: the strap maxes out at about 52 inches. For larger body types, that can leave very little slack, so it's worth confirming the fit before buying.

The panel that sits against your chest in crossbody mode uses a soft, breathable fabric that's comfortable against the body.

Things It's Missing

The reviewer points to a few gaps compared with alternatives like the Aer City Sling or the Bellroy 2.5L:

• No grab handle, which many competing slings include
• No external webbing to attach or hang extra gear
• Unstructured internal pockets that don't hold their own shape or capacity

Who It's For

This sling suits someone who wants a light, durable, low-profile carry for a modest set of everyday items, and who values premium materials and hardware. If you regularly need more capacity, a top handle, or external attachment points, the limited and compromised 2L volume may feel restrictive. But as a minimalist daily carry or tech pouch in a distinctive X-Pac build, it delivers a clean, easy-to-live-with package.
