The Evergoods Civic Access Pouch 2L is one of those accessories that seems to be perpetually sold out, and after spending time with the X-Pac version, it's easy to see why. This is a compact organizer designed by Evergoods (with founder Kevin Dee behind the design) that has been on the market for a long time and built a loyal following. Below is a closer look at how it's built, how it organizes gear, and the range of packouts it can handle.

Build and Materials

The version reviewed here uses an X-Pac X42 shell in black, though the pouch also comes in other colors and materials.

• X-Pac X42 version: roughly 241 grams, priced around $99, occasionally dropping to $89 or $80 on sale
• 420D nylon 6.6 version: roughly 218 grams, with PU coating, priced around $75

The dimensions are 9.2 inches wide, 3.5 inches deep, and 5.75 inches tall.

Inside, the lining is 210D high-tenacity nylon 6.6 with PU coating and a silicone finish. Standard X-Pac pouches in the Evergoods line often use a gray interior, but this X-Pac edition features a coyote brown lining with two shades of brown — one on the piping and one on the lining itself. The contrast of coyote brown inside and black X-Pac outside is a standout detail. The entire pouch is padded roughly 360 degrees, giving it structure and protection.

Care is straightforward: hand wash only and line dry.

The X-Pac editions are released through what Evergoods calls an "X-Pac capsule launch," typically stocked and sold out around June and July.

The One Limitation

The reviewer's single critique is the height. At 5.75 inches, the pouch fits an iPad mini without a cover, or with Apple's Smart Folio-style cover, but not with most aftermarket cases. An extra quarter to half inch of height — bringing it to about six inches — would allow an iPad mini in nearly any cover to sit on the padded side. Beyond that, no other drawbacks were noted.
