A Tech Pouch That Bridges Two Worlds

Most pouches pick a lane: either open pockets for gadgets, or webbing and slots for tools. The Greenroom136 PencilPusher 2.5 tries to do both. It aims to serve as a tech kit and an EDC carry organizer at the same time, and after using it daily, it holds up as one of the more versatile options in this size class.

Build and Materials

The PencilPusher comes in two fabric options covered here:

• VX42 X-Pac sailcloth, which is water-resistant and holds its shape well
• 1000D Cordura, which offers a bit more flex and expansion

Both versions use a 480D ripstop internal lining. The fabrics are made in the USA, but the pouches themselves are handmade in Malaysia.

One trait worth noting: X-Pac and similar structured fabrics tend to hold their shape rather than stretch. That keeps the pouch tidy, but it also means you're more limited in how much you can overstuff compared to Cordura or plain nylon.

Dimensions and Capacity

Organization

The layout is built around two front pockets, a clamshell middle compartment, and a mix of mesh and webbing.

Front Pockets

Each side has a front pocket. In one configuration, the left pocket holds two mesh pockets (non-stretch, but with breathable fabric) that work well as dump pockets for flat items like band-aids, wipes, and loose pills. There's enough room to fit steel med cases and vitamin containers.

The right pocket handles similarly sized items: a canister, a med carry box, chapstick, and small essentials.

Clamshell Middle Compartment

Nearly everything fit, with only a phone stand left out. Getting the clamshell fully loaded and zipped took some effort, but it closed.

Comfort and Carry

The exterior includes:

• Two front pockets, one on each side
• A D-ring for hooking or clipping the pouch

There is no carry handle, which is a notable omission. The D-ring helps, but a proper handle would make grab-and-go carry easier.

Room for Improvement

A few details keep this pouch from feeling fully dialed in:

• No handle. The D-ring is useful, but a dedicated handle is needed for easy carry.
• Zipper placement. All the zippers cluster on one side. Splitting them so compartments open from opposite ends would improve organization and make it faster to find things by instinct.
• No pull tabs. Opening and closing, especially the clamshell, is harder without something to grip. This was noticeable when trying to zip up a fully loaded compartment.

None of these are dealbreakers, but addressing them would push the pouch from good to excellent.
